Thursday, March 19, will be a very busy day at the library. AARP representatives will be on hand to assist you in filling out your Federal Income Tax forms from 12:30 -4:30 pm. Although their appointments are full, they work in walk-ins as time permits. So far, they have been able to work in everyone that has come for assistance.
At 1:00 on Thursday, the Library Book Club will host author Julia McBee. She will be speaking about her book Flame. Please join them for this special meeting.
At 5:00 on Thursday, the Library Friends will hold their regular monthly meeting in the Library Community Room. They will plan the upcoming yard sale. If you have any items you would like to donate to the sale, please bring them by the library or call 968-3239 if you need someone to pick them up.
At 6:00 on Thursday, the Library Board will be meeting in the Library.

Preschool Story Time will not be meeting at the library on March 24th due to school being out. If weather is permitting, parents and preschoolers are planning to meet at Beech Lake at 10:00 am to fly kites instead. If you like, bring bread crumbs for the ducks and a picnic lunch for yourself.

The Beech River Writer’s Group will not be meeting on Wednesday evening, March 25, but will meet again on the fourth Thursday of April at 6:00 pm. This will be their regular meeting time. We are very excited about this group of local writer’s! If you a writer or an aspiring writer from Henderson County, you will want to join this group!

Mark your calendars for March 28 from 3:00-5:00. If you have a child who will be starting to school in the fall of 2009, you will not want to miss “Countdown to Kindergarten.” Representatives from the City and County school systems will be on hand to inform parents about health, food, transportation, safety, and other issues you will deal with when you have a child in school. Children in attendance will be entertained with puppets, a school bus, and a fire truck while the parents are in the informative session. All children in attendance who are beginning kindergarten will receive a free “I’m going to Kindergarten” t-shirt.
