Chris Rumble was our guest last Friday as we started our summer reading programming. This was his first visit with us, but I can assure you that he will be invited to return in future years. His program was labeled as a “Reading Pep Rally”, and it was! It was also much more than that. Chris is an author/illustrator, and he shared with us some of his stories and illustrations. He was such an encourager to the children.

On Friday, June 12, we will have Ventriloquist Crystal Miller and Floppy (www.nolipsmove.com) as our special guests. Crystal visited with us a couple of years ago, and the children loved her program. If you visit her website, you will see a video clip of the program she did on her first visit here.

You won’t want to miss these educating and entertaining programs that we are providing for the children every Friday in June. These are professionals who are very good at what they do. Our next two programs are as follows: June 19, Conductor Jack with a musical program called “The Keys to Creativity” (www.jacknorton.net); and June 26, Magician Justin Chandler (www.themagictomotivate.com ).

The Library Book Club will be meeting on Thursday, June 18, at 1:00 pm, at the library to discuss Run for Your Life by James Patterson. You are invited to participate.

Today, I would like to give you information about http://www.facebook.com. Facebook is another social networking site that millions of people are using. People can sign up for free accounts on Facebook. It is very simple. Once you create a user name and password, you accept other people on Facebook as your “friends” or become “fans” of businesses, organizations, etc. A couple of months ago, I created a Facebook account for myself after receiving an email invitation to do so from one of my friends. Little did I know that so many of my friends and acquaintances already had Facebook accounts. It was very easy to find my friends, and more times than not, they found me first. It is a great way to share news, photos, and even videos with your family and friends. It is a great way to connect with old friends and acquaintances. The library even has an account. Search for “Everett Horn Public Library” and become one of our fans.
