Our Teen Summer Reading Program lasts through July 31. Prizes include a hardback set of the Twilight Saga by Stephenie Meyer, a $100 gift certificate from Books-A-Million, and a portable DVD player. Youth between 7th and 12th grades receive one free entry for every book read. The drawings will be held at 3:00 pm on Friday, July 31.
The winning poster numbers for the WWE package are posted at the library. If you were one of the few who received a poster, please come by and check for your number.
The library has one used computer that is being auctioned. It is a Gateway PC with Windows 2000, 36 GB hard drive, and 256 MB RAM. It has a floppy drive, a CD-ROM drive, and USB hookups. Keyboard, mouse, speakers, and desk included. Auction will run from July 22 through August 4. The highest bidder wins.
We have several computer classes for adults scheduled in August. No registration is required for the following sessions: August 11, Beginner’s Buying on eBay; August 18, Beginner’s Selling on eBay; and, August 25, How to use a Flash Drive. There will also be beginner email classes held on Wednesday mornings from 9:00-10:00 am. You must register in advance for the email classes. Call 968-3239.
The library is also reaching out to the unemployed and people searching for jobs. The library is offering assistance with anyone needing to fill out unemployment benefit applications on the Internet or weekly recertification. Just please call the library at 968-3239 in advance to make sure adequate staff are on hand for the time you want to come. If you need copies of your resume, the library is making up to three copies for free. Also, on August 7, from 4:00-5:00 pm, the library will offer a special session titled “Job Searching on the Internet.” No registration is required.
A patron has expressed interest in the library starting a group that can share personal collections of books on cassettes. If you a cassette collection and would be willing to loan and borrow with others, please call the library at 968-3239 and let us know you are interested.
