Lots of good things are happening at the library! A great crowd of youth and parents enjoyed the “Make a Splash: READ!” puppet show put on by Shiloh Regional Library on Tuesday, May 25.

“Countdown to Kindergarten” will be held on Thursday afternoon, May 27, from 6:00-8:00 pm. While parents are attending informational sessions about what to expect as their children are entering kindergarten, children will be entertained by a Natchez Trace Park Ranger, a school bus, and a fire truck. The first fifty children in attendance who will be entering Kindergarten will receive a free “I’m going to Kindergarten” t-shirt courtesy of the Library Friends.

Our children’s big summer reading programs begin on Friday, June 4. There will be two shows held each Friday in June at 10 am and 1 pm. Special guests at our first shows on June 4 will be the “Imagine That” Crew with a “Splish Splash’n Good Time.”

Our teen summer reading program for ages 12-18 begins on June 1. For every book checked out from the library and read, youth will receive an entry for prizes that will be drawn for weekly. Prizes include $50 cash (June 11), $20 gift certificate to In His Hands (June 18), package of 4 tickets to Eclipse in movie theaters on June 30 (June 25), and an 8 GB Ipod Touch (June 30).

On June 7, at 10:30 am, there will be a Twilight book release party for kids ages 12-18. The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner  is set to release on June 5 with an online version being released at 10:30 am on June 7. We will have a Twilight themed costume contest. The winner will receive a book copy of the new book. Computers will be set aside for youth to read the online release of the book.

On June 8, our local PBS station, WLJT-TV, will be bringing a guest to the library. Leona from “Between the Lions” will be here at 2:30 pm. Come by for a visit.
