Our young library patrons are enjoying a fun summer at the library. Last week, Chris Rumble entertained the kids with his “Adventure of Illustration” program. This Friday (June 18), special guest is comedy entertainer Jason Huneke. Other libraries that have hosted Jason report having a very entertaining program. His comedy is clean enough for kids, smart enough for adults, and edgy enough for teens. He will be doing two shows: one at 10:00 am and the second at 1:00 pm. Come enjoy! All ages are invited to attend.

Next week, June 25, special guest will be Keith Trehy, formerly known as The Mad Scientist. He will be appearing this year as Mr. Bond, the Science Guy presenting “Slippery Science.”

Last week, Megan Clenny won the $50 cash prize in the Teen Reading Program. If you are entering 5th grade through 12th grade (ages 12-18), you may receive one free entry for every book you read during the month of June. This Friday, we will be giving away a $20 gift certificate to In His Hands. June 25, the prize is a package of 4 tickets to Eclipse, which will be in movie theaters on June 30. Our grand prize, an 8 GB iPod Touch, will be given away on June 30.

This year, we are having a few Preschool Summer Reading Programs. The first one held on Tuesday, June 15, was a hit. The next one will be on June 29at 10:00 am. The topic is “An Ocean of Fun: Fish.”

Please be sure and thank our sponsors. Without them, we would not be able to have these great programs for the citizens of Lexington-Henderson County. Our sponsors are as follows: Carnal-Roberts Agency, Dr. Charles White, Sr., Dyer’s Employment Agency, Helms Motor Company, In His Hands, Jackson Arts Council, Lexington Animal Hospital, Lexington Broadcasting, Library Friends, McDonald’s, Pafford Funeral Home, Presson & Associates, Precise Rebuilders, Richard Rushing, Tennessee Arts Commission, and Wal-Mart.

The Library Book Club will be meeting on Thursday, June 17, at 1:00 pm, to discuss The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks by Rebecca Skloot. You are invited to participate.

There will be no Library Friends meeting this month.
