The library is the place to be this summer for entertainment, education, and enrichment!  During the month of June, the library has hosted numerous programs for kids and teens. Last Friday, the kids were totally taken in by Keith Trehy, better known as the former “Mad Scientist.” This Friday, July 2, special guest will be Kevin Kidd. Mr. Kidd has been with us several times before, and the kids enjoy his musical program. There will only be one session this Friday, at 10:00 am, so don’t miss it!

The Teens have been reading for chances to win awesome prizes this month. Megan Clenny won the $50 cash. William Stafford was the winner of the $20 In His Hands Gift Certificate; Morgan Olivio won the four tickets to the movie Eclipse. This Friday will be the grand prize drawing for an 8 GB iPod Touch. You still have time to participate if you haven’t already. This promotion is for kids ages 12-18 or grades 6th-12th.

Our Adult Summer Reading Program, “Water Your Mind: READ,” will start Thursday, July 1. For every book read, you will receive one entry in drawings for some great prizes: $20 gift certificate to In His Hands, $20 gift card to Wal-Mart, $20 gift certificate to McDonald’s, and the grand prize of 2 tickets to the “Music City Duck Tour” in Nashville, TN. This is an exciting adventure through the sights and sounds of Nashville into the Cumberland River aboard a fully restored DUKW amphibious vehicle.

We also have some very interesting programming lined up for adults during July. On July 13, at 5:00 pm, there will be a “Meet and Greet” for our Facebook fans. If you are one of the library’s Facebook fans or would like to become one, this meeting is for you. Fans will talk about their favorite things to do on Facebook. Refreshments will be served.  On July 20, at 5:00 pm, there will be a special session about “Genealogy on the Internet.”  On July 27, at 5:00 pm, Powell and Jennifer Franklin will conduct an “Introduction to Geocaching.”

Our next Preschool Summer program will be held on July 13, at 9:00 am, and is titled “High Seas Adventure: Boats.”
