The library is hosting an adult summer reading program during the month of July. For each book checked out from the library, read, and returned during the month of July, the adult will receive one free entry in the drawings for some great prizes. There will also be special promotions each week as a way to earn extra entries. Each week one prize will be awarded: July 9, $20 gift certificate to In His Hands (winner was Powell Franklin); July 16, $20 Wal-Mart gift card; and July 23, $20 gift certificate to McDonald’s. Weekly winners will still be eligible for the grand prize drawing on July 30. The grand prize is 2 tickets to the “Music City Duck Tour” in Nashville, TN. This is an exciting adventure through the sights and sounds of Nashville and into the Cumberland River aboard a fully restored DUKW amphibious vehicle (www.nashvilleducktours.com).
We also have some special programming for the adults during July. On July 20, at 5:00 pm, there will be a special informational session regarding “Genealogy on the Internet.” Many reliable resources are available to use online when conducting family research. At this session, local genealogists who volunteer at the library will share their favorite sites. On July 27, at 5:00, Powell and Jennifer Franklin will introduce you to geocaching. Geocaching is a treasure hunting game where you use GPS coordinates to hide and seek containers (from many local locations to worldwide) with other participants in the activity.
The Library Book Club will be meeting at 1:00 pm on July 15. The focus book is “While my Sister Sleeps” by Barbara Delinsky. If you would like to participate in the discussion but cannot make the meeting, you can post your thoughts on the book club blog at http://ehobookclub.wordpress.com.
