In order to raise funds for the Henderson County Folk Festival 2011, the library will be giving away a TN Vols Quilt. This quilt was made and donated by Dorothy “Dot” Woods and Alba Blankenship Barber. For a small donation, your name will go in the drawing which will be held on September 2 right before UT’s first game for the year. Come by the library at 702 West Church Street to see the quilt and enter the drawing.

To commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Civil War (2011-2015), the Tennessee State Library and Archives is sending teams of archivists and conservators to communities across Tennessee. Individuals may schedule an appointment, and the team will digitally copy and assist in the preservation of your Civil War era manuscripts, artifacts and photographs. All this is done without the items leaving your possession. Digital copies of these items, representing the rich Civil War heritage of Tennessee families, will become part of a virtual exhibit commemorating the 150th anniversary of the war in Tennessee. The Everett Horn Public Library will be hosting a digitization event on August 27, 2010. If you would like to make an appointment to have your items scanned, come by the library or visit our web site to fill out the form. You may also call 615-253-3470.
