In recognition of Black History Month, the Library honors several local African-Americans of Achievement. Mrs. Joy Johnson has worked tirelessly again this year and arranged a very inspiring display of twenty “African-Americans of Achievement” with local ties. The display will run throughout the month of February.

Preschool Story Time will meet at 10:00 am on Tuesday, February 15. They will be discussing community friends and having a special visitor from the police department. Since the February 8th program was dismissed due to school being out, children may also bring their Valentines to exchange.

The Library will have several guests singing Negro Spirituals on Wednesday, February 16, from 1:00-2:00 pm.  The following people will participate in the program: Mrs. Cora Mackey, Mrs. Ollie Pearson, Mr. Robert Taylor, and Ms. Sarah Taylor.

The Library Book Club will meet on Thursday, February 17, at 1:00 pm. They will be discussing The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen.  Please feel free to join them.

The Library Friends will be meeting on Thursday, February 17, at 5:00 pm. They will be discussing plans for their semi-annual used book sale in March. Please come to the meeting or call the library at 968-3239 if you would like to help with this fundraiser.

The Library is working with representatives from AARP again this year to provide income tax assistance. If you would like an appointment, call the library at 968-3239. We have not received the 1040 instruction booklets yet. They were shipped late from the IRS office, and we were instructed to expect them anytime between now and the middle of February.
