Summer reading time has begun in a big way! On Friday, June 10, children (and parents) thoroughly enjoyed the science program of Mr. Bond the Science Guy. He focused on electricity. It was a rather shocking program, literally.

Our schedule for the next week includes three big events. On Wednesday, June 15, the Career Coach will be at the library from around 10 am until 2 pm.  The Coach is coming courtesy of the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development. The Coach is a mobile computer lab manned by representatives from the Tennessee Department of Labor and Workforce Development who will be providing job search assistance.

On Friday, June 17, Safari Greg will be entertaining  the children at 10 am and 1 pm.  Safari Greg is another one of the kids’ favorite edutainers. If you do not know Safari Greg, you can check him out at

The library will be hosting a special Pre-school Summer Reading Program on June 21 at 10 am.

Sponsors for the library’s summer reading programs are as follows: Carnal-Roberts Agency, Dyer’s Employment Agency, Helms Motor Company, In His Hands, Lexington Animal Hospital, Pafford Funeral Home, Precise Rebuilders, Presson & Associates, Lexington Broadcasting, and McDonald’s. Without these sponsors, we would not be able to provide this awesome programming for our kids.

Our teens and tweens (entering grades 6 through 12) are reading for chances to win some neat prizes. Kristen Cole was this week’s winner of $20.
